Woman strangled to death using her own bed sheets

Police is hunting for assailants that raided the home of a local farmer, Phiona Namutebi, 21, and strangled her to death using her bedsheets.

According to the Wamala region Police spokesperson, Norbert Ochom, Namutebi was found dead in her bedroom at her home located in Butayonja sub-county in Mityana district.

The case of murder by strangulation registered as MTN/CRB/193/2019, was reported at Kitongo Police Station, by the area LC1 chairman, Sam Kigudde. 

Kigudde could not be reached for comment as calls to his known mobile phone number went unanswered by press time.

Homicide and scene of crime Police officers visited the area to gather evidence, while the deceased's body was taken to Mityana Hospital for a post-mortem. 

Ochom said that one suspect has been arrested and detained over the crime as investigations continue.

Without divulging particulars on the suspect in fear of jeopardising investigations, Ochom said the motive of the murder is still unknown.
