Danish Embassy finally clears EAC passports

Mar 18, 2019

This comes two months after claims circulated that the Embassy had rejected the passports

Ugandans can now travel to Denmark using the East African Community passport, the ministry of foreign affairs has said.

"The ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Uganda wishes to inform the general public that the Royal Danish Authority has finalised the process of entering the new EAC passport for Uganda into their immigration system," reads a statement posted on Facebook on Monday by Uganda Media Centre.

The statement further states that the process was concluded on March 8, 2019.

"The public is hereby informed that visa applications for persons intending to travel to Denmark using the EAC Uganda passport can now be submitted to the Danish visa application centre in Kampala," it further states.

This comes two months after claims circulated that the embassy had rejected the passports.

It was reported that the Embassy in Nairobi was unable to process visas using the new passports because it had not yet been approved by their home government.

In response, the ministry refuted the claims, stating that the embassy had been issued with samples of the new passport in December 2019.

It further urged Ugandans intending to travel to Denmark to be patient.
