Angudeyo's puzzle after winning Captain's prize

Mar 18, 2019

Playing off handicap 16, she returned 43 stable ford points to beat a strong field of competitors and win the tournament for the first time.

Wendy Angudeyo might have to conduct a raffle to choose which partner of her choice she will travel with after she won the 39th edition of the Lady Captain's Prize tournament at Kitante.

Playing off handicap 16, she returned 43 stable ford points to beat a strong field of competitors and win the tournament for the first time.

"I'm super excited because this is one of the big wins for me; it is the first time I'm winning the Lady Captain overall prize. My putting was right today; I had very long good drives and I have been practicing for this; I have worked hard and the game is now sweeter," Angudeyo said after receiving her winners' prizes that included two economy class return tickets to South Africa courtesy of South Africa Airways; from the airlines country manager Yogi Birigwa.

"I might have to do a raffle to choose who travels with me because everyone is interested in traveling; from my mother, my husband and my playing partner," Angudeyo stated.

"Unfortunately our lady captain Anne Abeja,  in whose honour the tournament was played lost her father on Friday so we decided to represent her well and I promised her  I would play this tournament both for her and myself," Angudeyo who doubles as the ULGU Honorary Secretary stated.

Stefan Krisch who topped the men's competition with 41 points will also fly to Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg with his son, having claimed the other two air tickets.

Just like in last year's competition Martha Babirye, Judith Komugisha and Harriet Kitaka were the top players in the ladies Group A with 37, 36 and 35 points respectively.

Group B's top performers included Mi Jung Kim (42pts), Diana Nabukenya (38pts) and Aidha Khamis (38) while Mary Ocheng, Brenda Maraka and Charity Apolot starred in Group C.

Hassan Kiyemba, Justin Ligyalingi, and Yakoub Higenyi were the top performers in the men's groups A-C.

The tournament was sponsored by SAA, Tusker, MARSH, Inspirations World of Beauty and Pinnacle Security.
