LC1 crushed to death while escaping from his stricken car

One person died instantly while four others sustained serious injuries when a vehicle they were travelling in lost control after it burst its tyre at Kigulu village on the Iganga-Kaliro Road on Monday.

Musa Bavemuno who is the LC1 vice-chairperson of Bulubandi village, Nakigo sub-county, died instantly after the taxi he was driving from Kaliro lost control after its front tyre burst and he jumped out of the vehicle. The accident happened at around 11:30 am.

According to Sande Mukova an eyewitness, Bavemuno would have survived in case he had stayed in the stricken vehicle instead of jumping out.

Mukova said that Bavemuno fell into a trench along the road and was crushed beyond recognition by the same vehicle he had just exited.

Amos Wakoli, Yakuti Balikwoleka, Halid Bushiri and Fred Obiira all who were inside the vehicle are currently admitted at Iganga Main Hospital in critical condition.

The officer in charge traffic at Iganga Central Police Station, Rogers Nandege, attributed the accident to over speeding, recklessness and the dangerous mechanical condition of the vehicle.
