Security shoots suspected robbers dead

KAMPALA - Two men, including one holding a suspected identification of Special Forces Command (SFC) operative, were shot dead Tuesday night near Face Technology offices in Kyambogo, Kampala as they attempted to rob money from a bullion van. 

The suspected SFC officer was identified as Bright Turyatunga.

The operation was conducted by the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) operatives following a tip off.

It is alleged that the driver of the G4S bullion van, Michael Okech offered energy drinks to the two cash crews, who included Richard Oryema and David Elweru. The drinks are suspected to have been laced with chloroform.

 
The van carried boxes of money that had been picked from Kayunga and Mukono-Stanbic Bank branches.

After taking the drinks, the crew dozed off and the driver branched from the road to Kyambogo University where money was allegedly offloaded from the van.

Sources said there was another small car which was used to carry the money that had been robbed from the bullion van.

It reportdely had four occupants, who fled, while the deceased opened fire upon realising that they were being trailed. 

 
The Police from Jinja Road station arrived shortly and took the bodies to Mulago Hospital.
