USPA gala set for April 5

 

 

USPA president Patrick Kanyomozi announced the dates on Monday during the Nile Special monthly assembly.

 

"We want to recognise these athletes early enough and we have set April 5 as the date for the gala," Kanyomozi said.

 

Thirty-eight (38) sporting disciplines and five other selected awards have been considered for the 2018 honours

 

Every year, the sports journalists' body recognises the country's best sportsmen and women of the year.

 

2018 was indeed a momentous sporting year for the country and its sportsmen. There was success recorded locally and internationally.

 

The top award is being contested for by athlete Joshua Cheptegei who won a gold medal in 10,000 and 5000m Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, netball star Lillian Ajio, rugby player Phillip Wokorach and Denis Onyango (Footballer)

 

Four other awards; Team of the Year, Legendary Honour, Best Run Federation, and Most Organised Event have been listed for the night.

 

"Our awards have continued to inspire and motivate the men and women who use their talent to bring pride to our motherland. And winning the USPA award is every sports personality's dream," Kanyomozi said.

 

The Awards gala will bring together over 500 guests
