Makerere University brightened their chances of winning a silverware this season when they eliminated Asubo Gafford Ladies 3-0  to progress to the quarterfinals of the FUFA Women Cup.
 
Catherine Nagadya who has been one the key players for Makerere, notched a brace before Prossy Nabukeera added the other.
 
At MUBS Arena in Nakawa, Millicent Mwanzi scored the only goal as last season's runners up She Corporate edged Muteesa I Royal University, while Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga fought hard to see off Buganda region league  side Divine Girls, winning the game 1-0.
 
Prossy Nalwoga was on target for the Rubaga based side.
 
The Women Cup is a knockout competition that is played by all the FUFA Women Elite League clubs plus other teams across the country that are interested in taking part.
 
The Knockout competition gives women footballers more competition and in the long run help in the growth of the game.
 
UCU Lady Cardinals who were ejected from the competition by Kawempe Muslim (3-1) are the defending champions.
 
The Mukono side defeated She Corporates 2-0 in the final played last year in Sheema district to emerge champions.
 
FUFA Competitions committee is yet to name the district that will host this year's final and date.
