CPA endorses Museveni as deputy

The President met Lifaka who is in Uganda to prepare for the 64th Commonwealth Parliament Conference.

President Yoweri Museveni has received and accepted an invitation from the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Cameroon National Assembly, Emilia Monjowa Lifaka to become the deputy patron of the Commonwealth Conference. The patron is Queen Elizabeth OF the United Kingdom.
 
The President met Lifaka who is in Uganda to prepare for the 64th Commonwealth Parliament Conference.
 
The Conference is scheduled for 23 – 29 September 2019 and will be held under the theme: ‘Adaption, Engagement and Evolution in a rapidly changing Commonwealth’. Uganda last hosted a similar conference in 1967.
 
“Uganda is ready to host this important conference. I accept to attend the conference. I am pleased to receive the invitation to become the Deputy Patron of the Commonwealth conference,” he said.
 
Museveni and the guest discussed the security situation affecting Cameroon and Nigeria that are mainly conducted by the Boko Haram group.
 
Lifaka saluted Museveni and Uganda for accepting to host the conference.
 
Monjowa Lifaka is the current Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). She was elected to the National Assembly of Cameroon in 2002 and has held the post of Deputy Speaker since 2009.
 
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga said that the conference will be an opportunity to showcase Uganda’s beauty and culture. She said they would use the conference to promote Uganda’s investment potential.
 
Kadaga who has been hosting various speakers in preparation for the conference said Uganda has made adequate preparations to host the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC).
