Rugumayo confident of wrapping up TML Golf Series at Kitante

Professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo is now confident of winning the Tusker Malt Lager Golf Series after finishing second and picking 17.5 points from the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort leg.

Despite his second place finish, Rugumayo maintained his lead of the series on 75 points, 2.6 ahead of Brian Toolit who won the Serena leg with a two-over-par 74 gross and got 20 points.

Unlike Toolit who has won two legs on the trot, Rugumayo has not won any overall position in the five legs thus far but consistence has kept him on the top.

"It was tough. The pin positions were hidden, but I respected the set-up and stuck to my game plan. I came to maintain my position but I missed my target score because I found the course changed so I had to change my target score from 72 to 74 but still I missed it by two strokes,"

"This series is all about consistency; I haven't won any leg but I have always finished among the top three, so I will just maintain that and Kitante being my home course, I think I can go on to win it," Rugumayo stated.

Saidi Mawa who was in second place going into Friday's action could only pick 11 points, slipping to fourth position, while Herman Mutaawe who returned 76 gross and picking 17.5 points is now third.

Silver Opio and Phillip Kasozi are tied in fifth place on 65.5 points while David Kamulindwa, fresh from making the cut in the Kenya golf series at Windsor Golf Club is on 54.1 points.

Participating professionals in the series earn and accumulate points in each round, with the one with the most taking the biggest chunk of the sh50m prize money after the six-round series.

The top twenty professionals will share the prize money.
