Makerere dismissed from university league

KIU now progress to the group stages and are placed in group C alongside defending champions Kyambogo University, Kumi and Busitema.

 
Makerere University has been dismissed from this year's edition of the Pepsi University Football League.
 
The league disciplinary committee took the decision to have Makerere dumped after their fans stormed the pitch and interrupted the taking of spot kicks during the return leg game against KIU in the preliminary knockout round last week.
 
By the time of calling off, the game KIU was 2-1 on spot-kicks after a 1-1 draw after both sides.
 
KIU now progress to the group stages and are placed in group C alongside defending champions Kyambogo University, Kumi and Busitema.
 
Group A comprises of Bugema, Nkumba, YMCA, Bishop Stuart while St. Lawrence, Gulu, IUIU, Uganda Martyrs make up group B.
 
Kampala University, MUBS, UCU and International University of East Africa will be part of group death (D)
 
Kyambogo defeated Kampala University 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to win last season championship at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
