Marine Police retrieve body of teenager

LAKE TRAGEDY 

The Uganda Police marines have retrieved the body of a teenager who drowned  in Lake Victoria near Gaba Landing site.

Seventeen-year-old Makayi Wabukulu from Mbale district allegedly died during a fishing mission with colleagues.

The body, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango,  was  on Tuesday evening discovered floating on water between Beach House and Kampala University main campus. 

The Police later took the body to the City Mortuary in Mulago as investigations continue.

The Kampala University registrar, Julius Ssekatawa however dismissed earlier rumors that the deceased was a student.

"He was not our student. We just share a boundary with the beach and the lake where the body was retrieved from," he said. 

Onyango said plans were underway to handover the body to the bereaved  family.
