Maj. Gen. Kasirye Ggwanga has said that he shot at musician Catherine Kusasira's car tyre to rescue his son who was being attacked by the latter's body guards and friends.

In an exclusive interview with New Vision on Wednesday, Ggwanga said the Tuesday incident that happened in Makindye at Madilisa was a result of insults hurled at him by Kusasira and her people.

"I was at home sleeping when my son, who just returned from the US, called me that he was under attack. I had to go and rescue him," Ggwanga said.

"On reaching Madilisa, I tried to ask what was going on, but Kusasira was shouting at me, saying I am not above the law. I again asked her, what was happening, but she abused me the more, telling me how she speaks to the President," he added.

"I had to get my gun, shoot the tyre of her vehicle and go back home. What those people should know is that some of us are on the target list, they should stay away from us," Ggwanga warned.

Ggwanga warned that celebrities should stay away from trouble if they wanted to live peaceful lives.

"If she wants to go after my family, I will go after her. There is a time she used my name claiming to be my wife in some dubious activities. I don't make mistakes. She should stop misbehaving," Ggwanga warned.

"Let them stick to entertainment," he added.

Local media reported that Ggwanga's children had had a brawl on Tuesday with Kusasira's team over noise pollution.

Ggwanga's son reportedly called his father after being attacked by the team.

Police said they would summon the retired general to make a statement.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango Thursday said Kusasira a case of malicious damage to property had been registered at Katwe Police Station.

"We got information that there was shooting at Makindye. When we got there on Tuesday at 10pm, one party had already driven off,"

"We are investigating the case, where they are allegedly accusing the Rtd General of shooting Kusasira's car. It's an allegation not yet confirmed," Onyango said.
