Mayuge district health officer released on bond

MAYUGE - The district health officer Mayuge, Dr Charles Dhabangi who had earlier been arrested in connection with the murder of the in charge of Kingandalo health center IV in Mayuge district, Abraham Gwaluka has been granted police bond.

Dhabangi was recently held alongside four others in connection with the shooting down of Gwaluka at his home in Bulubandi village, Nakigo sub county Iganga.

The deceased was shot dead as he arrived at his home with his wife, Jalia Namusali.

Busoga East police spokesman, James Mubi, said investigations into the matter are still underway.

Mubi said the accused, though on police bond, will appear in court alongside four others soon.

An AK 47 rifle believed to have been used in the murder was recently recovered by security personnel in Mayuge district from a prison warder. The gun was transferred to ballistics experts in Kampala.

The resident district commissioner Iganga, Eva Kwesiga urged members of the public to vigorously report any suspicious elements in their areas as a way of phasing out criminal elements.
