A person seeking marriage should be presentable and appealing to potential husband or wife, a senior Seventh-Day Adventist pastor, has said.

“Eat, sleep, and dress well in a manner that glorifies God. Look after your physical body. God does a lot of mighty things but He cannot brush your teeth. So brush your teeth,” Central Uganda Conference Bishop, Samuel Kajoba, advised.

“Why do you wear a gomesi if you are not married. As you pray to God to get a marriage partner, increase your chances by being disciplined. Do not engage into sex before marriage. If a man asks you for sex before marriage, do not give in. Allow God to approve your plans,” he added.

He implored married couples to be faithful to their partners. “A husband should love his wife as Christ loved the Church and a wife should also be submissive to her husband.”

Kajoba was preaching to hundreds of believers who turned up for the annual corporate prayer at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. Over 1,300 new converts were baptised.

Kajoba said Uganda and the world in general have witnessed fake pastors who are bent on amassing wealth from their followers.

“We have seen some Christians fleeced of their belongings by such pastors. As Pastors, we are in the ministry for spiritual nourishment and to prepare people for Christ’s second coming, not to amass wealth. Ugandans need to be protected from money makers under the guises of serving God,” he said.

In the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, all ordained pastors are graduates of theology. Some of them upgrade to PhD level.

Kajoba said Seventh-Day Adventists as a remnant Church, believe and teach only the Bible in its totality.

“The truth will always remain the truth whether it is said or not. It may hurt some to hear that this is the only Church that worships God on His chosen and blessed day, Sabbath as the Bible teaches. That is the truth,” he said.

The executive secretary of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Uganda, Pr Dr Israel Kafeero, offered a special prayer for President Yoweri Museveni and the First Family for God’s protection and guidance. He also prayed for cabinet, the legislature, judiciary, media, the army and Police.

Pr Dr Moses Maka Ndimukika implored faithful to always have trust in God in good times and tribulations.

“Being a Christian does not mean that you will always live a happy life. No. Tribulations will come but God will help you overcome them. Trust and believe God,” he said.
