Dead body found in Mabira Forest

Police has retrieved the remains of an unidentified man from Mabira Forest in Najjembe division, Buikwe district along the Jinja-Kampala Highway.

The Ssezibwa Police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto, said the man who did not have any identification on him could have died two or three months back because the body had decomposed a lot.

Butoto said a tin containing pesticides and a plastic water bottle were found on the man and were taken by the Police to aid in investigations.

The man was clad in a cream t-shirt, pair of black jean trousers and brown shoes.

The Najjembe LC3 chairperson, Willy Kiwanuka, said he together with area residents looked critically at the remains and concluded that the man was not known to be from the area.

Kiwanuka explained that as local authorities, they had not received any information related to the disappearance of any of their residents in the area.

Mutwalib Lukyamuzi who is in charge of security at Lugazi Municipality cautioned road users especially in Mabira Forest to be very careful about vehicles that are parked along the road at night.

"You must be cautious of vehicles that park in Mabira by the roadside pretending to be having mechanical problems with people maintaining them because some ferry dead bodies after killing them," Lukyamuzi claimed.

"Some carry the bodies into the forest as others pretend to be maintaining the vehicles and after accomplishing the mission, they drive away" he added.

Lukyamuzi appealed to residents to always tip the Police whenever they spot any vehicles parked along the road in the forest.

The man's remains were taken to the Kawolo Hospital morgue.
