The family of the Late Prof. Mathew Okai is mourning the death of their son John Kennedy Ongom, a renowned architect who passed on in London recently.

The elder son to Prof. Okai, John was an accomplished architect with vast experience in the field of residential projects in London (United Kingdom).

"A member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), John worked for many London based architect practices and his legacy can be found across London in the buildings and projects he worked on," says Josephine Okai, the mother of the deceased.

"John spent his formative years in Uganda and Ghana, with most of his adult life spent in London. Apart from his professional life, he had a passion for Jazz music. He founded the community-based jazz band-the John Ongom Big Band (JOBB), where he managed a 17-piece band and regularly played the tenor saxophone in East London for local festivals, at weddings and other private functions," she says.

"As a family we appreciates thoughts, prayers, and messages of support from friends and relatives in the United Kingdom, Ghana and Uganda," she adds.

A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. John, till we meet again, beautiful soul, rest in peace
