Jinja youths Christmas Cup kicks off

Rangers Football Academy captain Richard Muyinda revealed that his teammates are in fine mood ahead of the tournament.

With last year's winners Samba Care and HELP FC not honouring this year's edition due to financial constraints , all eyes will be on Rangers FC and Wanyange youths academies as the fourth edition of the Jinja Municipal Council Under 14 tournament kicks off this Saturday at Magwa primary school play ground.

Rangers Football Academy captain Richard Muyinda revealed that his teammates are in fine mood ahead of the tournament.

"Apart from our injured goal keeper Saidi Makulula, all players are in good shape as we hope to make it to the finals this time," said Muyinda.

Rangers FC have won the competition three times but were eliminated in the semifinals last year by last year's winners HELP FC.

Meanwhile, Wanyange Youths Academy coach Timothy Bwiire hopes to see that his team reach the finals. "We have trained well enough to get set for any challenge and I have a lot of confidence in my team,'' said Bwiire hoping his reaches the finals on January 13 at Kakindu stadium.

Over 16 teams are featuring in this year's competition with group stages slated to take place from Saturday to Tuesday at Magwa primary school playground with four groups of four each.

The tournament is sponsored by Maggwa Parish area councilor Abdallah Zein.
