Bishop Luwalira preaches love, reconciliation

FESTIVE SEASON

KAMPALA - The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, the bishop of Namirembe Diocese, has preached love and reconciliation.

He said that at a time when Christians are awaiting the birth of Jesus Christ, Ugandans need to rekindle peace amongst each other.

Speaking as the main celebrant at a Christmas Carols service at the Vision Group head office in Kampala on Friday, Luwalira said there has been a dampening negative vibe in the country recently.

But the faithful can turn this around by inspiring a tone and action of reconciliation, he added.

The Vision Group Anglican Choir led the procession with a heartwarming Once in Royal David's City hymn on a warm mid-morning.

 

 

 

It was the first ever Christmas Carols service held at the multi-media company by the Anglican community.

 

 

 

There were two guest choirs: Kibuye Echoes Choir and Jordan Crossers Choir.

 

 

 

It was a full house as the congregation and choirs sang in unison to the rousing hymns.

 

 

 

Bishop Luwalira was assisted by Rev. Samuel Muwonge, the Vision Group Anglican Chaplain.

Muwonge is also the Secretary for Mission and Evangelism at Namirembe Diocese.

 

 

The Vision Group Anglican Choir sang O Holy Night after the Absolution.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The first lesson was from the Book of Genesis 3:8-19.

God tells sinful Adam that he has lost the life of Paradise and that his seed will bruise the serpent's head.

 

 

 

Performances by Jordan Crossers Choir got everyone hooked.

 

 

Hilda Kamukama read the second lesson - Genesis 22:15-18.

God promises to faithful Abraham that in his seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kibuye Echoes Choir sang special carols, which were engaging.

 

 

 

Vision Group staff and visitors attended the service.

 

 

Beatrice Kentaro read the fourth lesson from Isaiah 11:1-9.

The peace that Christ will bring is foreshown.

 

 

 

 Jordan Crossers Choir sang a carol about the lineage of Jesus Christ.

Bukedde boss Geoffrey Kulubya read the fifth lesson from Luke 1:26-38.

 

 

 

Frank Kabushenga read the sixth lesson, which was extracted from Luke 2:1-7.

St. Luke tells of the birth of Jesus.

 

 

 

New Vision's online editor Nelson Naturinda read the seventh lesson from Luke 2:8-20.

 

 

In his delivery, Bishop Luwalira urged all journalists to lead prayerful lives despite their busy schedules.

"As we praise and make merry, we should remember that Jesus Christs is coming as a judge. Are we prepared?" he said.

"There should be great expectation for what is to come this Christmas season. We should also pray for all those who have departed from us this season and the seasons past."

 

 

Luwalira preached about the need to love one another, just like God did the world that He gave His son Jesus to be born to redeem man.

The cleric thanked Vision Group for exempting love in their contribution to northern Uganda, where the clergy received uniforms from Vision Group. 

 

 

 

 

At the end of the service, Vision Group's Editor-in-Chief delivered her remarks, thanking everyone that played a role in putting together the special service.

 

 

Together with Geoffrey Kulubya, Kaija handed over gifts to the main celebrant Bishop Luwalira.
