Mbarara businessman knocks cyclist dead

Kasasira identified the dead as Justus Muhanguzi from Kiruhura who was driving a Bajaj boxer UAT 096X and another person who was on UAQ 669Y Bajaj Boxer whose particulars have not yet been established and is currently admitted at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Intensive Care Unit.

ACCIDENT

MBARARA-Police in Mbarara are investigating circumstances under which Mbarara's prominent business man was involved in a fatal accident killing one on spot leaving another one in critical condition.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi regional police spokesperson  confirmed the accident and revealed that Godffrey Kacuma the owner of G.B.K Dairy products limited  was on Monday at around 1:00pm  driving his Toyota Land cruiser TX Prado  Registration number UAV 448Y on Kitunzi road in Mbarara town  when he had a head on collision with a boda boda cyclist killing him instantly.

Kasasira identified the dead as Justus Muhanguzi  from Kiruhura who was driving a Bajaj boxer UAT 096X and  another person who was on UAQ 669Y Bajaj Boxer whose particulars have not yet been established and  is currently admitted at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Intensive Care Unit.

"This was a fatal accident because Justus Muhanguzi died on spot, he was carrying milk cans with his colleague, so it happened that Kacuma was trying to overtake a fuso lorry which was heading to Rwebikona trading center,then met a bodaboda cyclist that was coming from Rwebikona and crashed head on" Kasasira confirmed.

Kasasira further revealed that police managed to impound Kacuma's vehicles which are currently at Mbarara police station.

"So far Kacuma has already recorded his statement at Police in a bid to help in trying to ascertain the cause of the accident". He attributed the cause of accident to over speeding by either party.

The body of Muhanguzi is currently at Mbarara  Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem from where it will be handed over to its relatives. By press time no relative had showed up at Mbarara police station.
