Green affair at Starqt awards

Nov 23, 2018

Stella Nankya, the proprietor of this award show exuded so much glee after the event was successful and the first ever green carpet display in all over South Africa.

The 5th annual starqt awards went down at Bedfordview hall last weekend in Johannesburg, South Africa and the talk of the day was the green elegance that oozed all through the venue. StarQt awards is an event that celebrates hard work and success amongst Ugandans living in South Africa, call it an award show for ‘summers'.

Stella Nankya, the proprietor of this award show exuded so much glee after the event was successful and the first ever green carpet display in all over South Africa.

She told us that this year has been so gratifying as so many new things were incorporated in what people had initially been used to, so it was very risky.

She said: "This year, a new field of sports was included in the awards categories due to public demand from Ugandans based down here. A lot of people have participated in sports events like football, tennis, pool table and netball on a monthly basis from province to province, which became part of their lives in 2018. This was a way of growing unity within us, as Ugandans and the right thing to do was honour sportsmen and sportswomen in this indomitable Ugandan community living in South Africa".

As the norm goes, a new Mr Uganda South Africa, Juma Straxy and Miss Uganda South Africa, Joan Nakafeero were crowned. Songstress Rema Namakula graced the show.

Way to go Stella Nankya, keep spreading the Ugandan love down south.
