KAMPALA - The USF National Sprints Gala is a futuristic swimming programme that gives Ugandan swimming a new meaning.

Top swimmers in the country are presented with a grand opportunity of tracking their level of competitiveness under the scheme.

It is important to note that as the demands at the highest level of the game continue increasing Uganda Swimming Federation is as well exploring systems to keep up with the ever changing trends in the sport.

This particular inaugural edition that ended Sunday at GEMS Cambridge International School was quite fulfilling of USF' efforts structured towards attaining an international competitive acumen.

It works in such a way to test the agility and skills of a swimmer under a sprint race. The races are so entertaining and short compared to the normal formats.

"We continue to dig up novel ideas. The beauty about the sprints is that it gives a swimmer some bit of self-expression. Its entertainment nature and being a training platform are bonuses" said Moses Mwase, general secretary Uganda Swimming Federation.

Uganda's representatives at this year's ongoing CANA Zone III in Khartoum, Sudan came from this special training programme. The races were conducted in Individual Medley, Free style, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke.
