Pakistani national remanded for defiling 15-year-old maid

Police in Koboko have taken to court a Pakistan national by the names Abdul Majid, a 25-year-old  pharmacist over allegedly  defiling his 15-year-old maid whom he impregnated.

The incident occurred at his home in Gaga cell, upper ward, Koboko municipality.  The suspect was arrested on Friday November 2, 2018.

The case was reported to Police by Bran Adaba, the LC2 chairman of Anyokonga parish, Abuku sub county, Koboko district last weekend.  

Being an orphan who dropped out of school, the victim had gone to work in the home of the suspect as a maid to earn a living. According to the victim, the suspect fell in love with her and ended up impregnating her.

Her relatives became concerned when they saw her pregnant and then reported to Police for further investugation. A case was opened and file sanctioned by Resident State Attorney.

The suspect was remanded to Bukutu Government prison in Koboko as inquiries continue under Koboko CRB 842/2018.

Majid's trouble escalated after he defiled and impregnated the minor in his home.

Ismail Apangu, the sub county chief said the victim was working with the family of the suspected defiler.

Vujeru Zumurad, the probation officer said the suspect is likely to face two counts of child abuse and defilement.

Zumurad appeals to local communities to be vigilant and report cases of child abuse, defilement to responsible offices for easy follow up and  for justice to prevail. This will address gaps between the Police, other relevant offices in handling cases.

Swaib Kenyi, the LC3 chairman  said there is need to support the minor as Abuku sub county local government through skills training.

The chairman called for justice to prevail and appealed to the responsible officers handling the case to ensure the perpetrator accounts for his actions.

Similarly a 38-year-old, Nigo Ahmed Tole a resident of Lu'bejenga village in Punyura parish Lobule sub county is being remanded at Gbukutu government prison for allegedly defiling and impregnating his own daughter.

It is alleged that Nigo started having sex with his  daughter  from the  age of  9  to 15.

Vujeru Zumurad, the Koboko district probation officer to whom the girl reported the case said defilement cases are on  the rise though he could not provide statistics.

According to Zumurad, several cases in the communities end up un-reported because some parents prefer settling the cases outside court and get monetary benefits or animals.

Meanwhile in Arua, a step brother identified as Robert Ayiko allegedly defiled his 5- year-old sister. The 18-year-old  defiled the girl while she was at a neighbor's home in Ediofe Mendoza area.

The girl had gone to pick smearing oil after bathing and was defiled in the process. 

The incident occurred on November 3, 2018. He was arrested and detained  at Arua Central Police Station for further investigations.
