KAMPALA- Sven Saint, manager of Mestil Hotel, who was arrested on Sunday over the death of a Primary Seven pupil, Ismail Magoba, has been released on police bond.

However, the hotel pool attendant is still in detention over allegations of negligence that led to the drowning of the 13-year-old.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owesigire said they had detained the manager as a person managing Mestil Hotel to help them identify the person who was in charge of the swimming pool at the time the pupil drowned so that Police could detain him and charge him on matters of negligence.

"We arrested the hotel manager because we wanted him to tell us who the person in charge of the pool was, whom he named and we had  him released ," Owesigire said.

He said any time they will take Abdukharim Abubaker the swimming pool attendant to court and charge him on matters of carelessness while on duty.

However, when Newvision asked whether the manager had agreed to compensate late Magoba's family and negotiate matters outside court, Owesigire said the matters of compensation and negotiation are between the family and hotel Management and not Police as their role was to identify the criminal in the case.
