Elgon rally battleground set

The seventh event on the national rally calendar is the last and the National Rally Championship title decider.

 
The battleground for the Oryx Elgon rally is set and a few sections that were impassable will be cleared before this week.
 
Event Manager Bob Byabasaija made the revelation during the launch of the two-day event at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale. The hotel committed sh17m to the rally.
 
"We are set and we are ready and wish to organise an accident-free event," Byabasaija said.
 
He said proceeds from the rally will go to the victims of the Bududa landslides.
 
"As motorsport family, we feel happy when the community is ok and that is why we are giving part of the proceeds to the victims of the Bududa landslides and the public should join us in this effort," Byabasaija said.
 
The Mbale Municipal mayor Mutwalibi Mafabi assured the rally organisers of support and offered machinery to grade the sections that were impassable.
 
"Sports is business and the youth need to use sports to make a living, and as parents, we fully support sports to engage our youth," Mutwalibi said.
 
The Hotel ICT/ e-marketing manager Aggrey Bahweza assured the organisers of continued support to the event.

Ronald Ssebuguzi leads the table standing with 340 points, female driver Suzan Super Lady is second with 315 points, while Jas Mangat is third with 305 points.
