The number of tourists coming to Uganda would triple if only those in the industry improved on the way they handle their clients before, during and after their visit.

This was revealed by the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Ephraim Kamuntu at the ministry of tourism headquarters on October 30.

"For a start, how many of you find time to the do that?" Kamuntu asked adding: "To make matters worse, do you own up to a fault and endeavor to say sorry when need be? Take note - tourism is competitive and there are several options available. The challenge is upon you to make Uganda preferable".

Kamuntu urged hoteliers, transporters, tour guides and operators to ‘massage the egos' of their clients (tourists) if they are to convince them to come back or ask their colleagues to follow suit.

Talking about his new book, Customer Service, Chris Muhango urged the people in the field of tourism to promptly respond to customers' queries.

"Poor customer care is generally a threat to Uganda's economic competitiveness," Muhango said.
