Minister Sempijja, dignitaries survive tent crash

The security personnel mainly the Police, plain clothed men and prisons officers had to dash to the rescue of the minister and dignitaries before the tent crashed on them.

The minister of agriculture, Vincent Ssempijja and very important persons (VIPs) survived being crashed by the tent they were seated on after poles supporting it gave way following heavy wind.

The security personnel mainly the Police, plain clothed men and prisons officers had to dash to rescue the minister and dignitaries before the tent crashed on them.

 

This was during the celebrations to mark the World Foods Day in the newly created district Nabilatuk in Karamoja region. 

In the tent were the minister's wife, energy state minister Peter Lokeris, Food and Agricultural Organisation and  and World Food Programme country representatives, National Agricultural Research Organisation  directors, Members of Parliament from Karamoja region and district local leaders.

The minister who looked scared didn't want to talk to the press after the incident.

The function was temporally halted for about 20 minutes as the security officers fixed the tent.

The World Food Day held under the theme: "A Zero hunger world by 20130 is possible" attracted several exhibitors across the country who show cased their products.
