Namboole High School wins music, dance and drama Competition

The competition was one of the activities to commemorate 25 years of Straight Talk Foundation, which empowers the lives of young people.

Namboole High School are the champions of Straight Talk Foundation (STF) Music, Dance and Drama Competition.

They were crowned during the organisation's 25th anniversary function at Salaama School for the Blind, Muluga, Nanfumbambi, in Mukono district on Sunday, October 7.

The function was graced by the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and several officials from the Buganda Kingdom, who included among others the Kingdom's trade minister Mahmoud Thobani and the county chief of Kyaggwe, Alex Benjamin Kigongo.

Other schools and organisations that received trophies included Engage All Africa, from Busia, which emerged second and Salaama School for the Blind, which took third position.

Pupils of Winterland Primary School, Kyebando, entertaining guests during the function.

Schools like St Balikuddembe Secondary School, Kisoga, Winners Secondary School, Katosi, Living Oracles Primary School, Naluwala, Alpha and Omega Primary School, Kisoga and Winter land Primary School, Kyebando also performed impressively.

The competition was one of the activities to commemorate 25 years of Straight Talk Foundation, which empowers the lives of young people.

In his message that was delivered for him by his Katikkiro, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi commended Straight Talk Foundation (STF) for championing development through its programmes that promote the sexual and reproductive health, education and material welfare of young people.

 

The Executive Director of Straight Talk Foundation, Susan Ajok thanked Kabaka Mutebi for accepting to partner with her organisation to further its youth empowerment programmes.

The function was also graced by members of the Board of Straight Foundation, who included among others the Dr. Sabrina Kitaka and Robby Muhumuza, the Board Chair.

Members of the Board donated items like sugar, maize flour and rice to the pupils of Salaama School for the Blind, which was established by the late Sir Edward Muteesa II, in 1959, according to the Buganda county chief of Kyaggwe (Ssekiboobo), Alex Benjamin Kigongo.

Prior to the visit of the Kabaka, the school was given a face-lift courtesy of the kingdom's minister of trade, marketing and cooperatives, Mahmoud Thobani. During his visit, Kabaka Mutebi donated four Perkins Braillers to the school
