Unlike in the past when The New Vision through its weekly Pakasa pullout used to hold the Pakasa Forum at Kampala Parents School, this time round a decision was taken to partner with Makerere University through the College of Business and Management Sciences.

This years' Forum will take place on October 11 at Makerere University auditorium and this was announced during a press briefing held at the School of Business, Makerere University by Dr. Peter Turyakira, the Head of Marketing at School of Economics.

"Pakasa Forum is a youth entrepreneurship programme organised with the aim of inspiring a change in mind-set among young people to regard entrepreneurship as a viable source of income," Turyakira said.

The keynote speaker for this year's forum will be Barbara Mulwana

"Immediately after the forum, Makerere University in partnership with The New Vision will organise the annual Entrepreneurship Expo,"  Dr. Turyakira said adding that as part of course work and in order to enhance students' learning application of the knowledge, the department of Marketing and Management is organising the third annual entrepreneurship expo slated for October 12 at the freedom square.

"The theme for this years' expo is "Unlocking students potential". We expect over 1,500 university students to showcase innovative ideas to inspire and encourage the entrepreneurship spirit on campus among the potential entrepreneurs," Turyakira added.

Over 200 businesses are expected to take part in the expo and out of these 200, only 10 will be selected by the assessing team. From the 10 businesses, the team will select the final three businesses and the first business will receive the Vice Chancellor's award, second business will get the Principal's award and the third will get an award from the dean faculty of economics.

Prof. Eria Hisali, the college principal thanked Vision Group for considering partnering with the University to organise both the Expo and the Forum. He said, to minimise graduates' unemployment in Uganda, Makerere University and Vision Group will make sure the two programmes are successful and that students benefit entirely from them.

All second year students doing entrepreneurship are supposed to take part in the expo and will be assessed at the end.
