Strikers come up big aginst Challengers

Frank Akankwasa claimed 4 wickets as Strikers went crusing past Challengers by 6 wickets  in a classic Jazz Safari National Men's League encounter Sunday at lugogo oval.

On any day, this derby draws a lot of attention with the junior side Strikers striving to prove a point against their senior side Challengers.

Debutants in the top flight, Strikers have had a fair campaign and a top four finish was good enough target and having returned more than 30 points in the season, they could have a future in the top tier.

The absence of their top batsman Zephania Arinaitwe who is away in South Africa on national team duty did not deter the youngsters from completing the job.

Challengers' youngster Steven Wabwose's half century of 62 from 76 balls propelled the board to 212 from 50 overs.

However, Rogers Olipa pronounced himself better with the bat returning a half ton of 67 not out from 57 balls as Strikers successfully chased the game.

At Entebbe oval, the already relegated pair of Ceylon Lions and Premier were playing for pride and in the end Perera Anushka's century of 108 not out from 51 balls and Jonathan Sebanja's 3 wickets haul guided Ceylon Lions to a comfortable 7 wickets

In division two action Prakash Sha and Hiral Patel claimed 3 wickets apiece in Patidar's 1 wicket win over SKLPS at Budo oval.
