Uganda dominated this year's Uganda International Darts Open Championship held in Bweyogerere, Wakiso district.

It started with Harriet Akot in the women category beating Kenya's Suzan Wanja in the final, before Eddy Baguma silenced Tanzania's Isaiah Noah in another final.

Akot ended a three year period Uganda had suffered without winning the singles' title in the women category when she beat Wanja 3-1.

Kenya's Rosemary Wanja who had won the event for three consecutive years, finished third having lost in the semi-final.

"I was just focused and determined to win this tournament because I was playing against people I know very well," Akot said.

In the men's category, Baguma beat Noah 4-2 in another tight final.

Baguma took an early 2-0 lead, but Noah fought back to take it 2-1.Baguma added the third, but Noah replied to take it 3-2 before Baguma sealed it with the fourth win

"It was tight, but I just believed in myself. In my heart I said, if Bitwire did it for us last year, then I can also do it for Uganda and indeed that gave me braveness," Baguma stated after the game.

In the team event, Uganda Prisons lost 3-1 to Kenya Communications Authority in the women category, while Uganda's UWA lost 9-8 to Mangereza of Kenya.
