KAMPALA - The National Baseball and Softball Association (BASA) plans to spread the sport in schools effective next year.

The Chairman BASA, Dennis Kasozi said last year they had over fifteen schools playing at the National championships compared to this year's reducing numbers.
The setback is a clear indication that they need to put a lot more effort to attain their target.

"This year, our main focus was on national teams that were taking part in the Olympics. However after this, we intend to spread the sport to the young generation, "Kasozi said.

Currently, schools such as Ndejje High, Metha Secondary School, Kakira secondary school and St. Peters Nsambya have been introduced to the sport.

Kasozi said that the sport has potential of winning medals as well as securing education scholarships for the children.
