KAMPALA - Uganda National U17 team  (Cubs) stormed the final of the  CAF Regional Qualifiers.

The Cubs eliminated hosts Tanzania 3-1 in the semifinals to tie with Ethiopia in the final. Uganda will be seeking to recover losses against Ethiopia, the side that beat them 1-0 in the group stages. 
 
Idd Abdulwahid had given Uganda an early lead in the fourth minute before Edison Mshirakandi levelled matters for Tanzania in the eleventh minute. 

Uganda bounced back with John Alou's strike in the 76 mintue before an own goal from Amiri Njiru in the added minutes of the game saw Uganda walk away as victors to march to the final.

Ethiopia beat Rwanda 4-2 in penalties after 2-2 draw in the other semifinal to reach the final.

The victory over Tanzania was Uganda's fourth consecutive win in this competition. 

Earlier, they defeated Djibouti (8-0), Kenya (3-1) and South Sudan (6-1).              
The winner of the tourney will represent the CECAFA region in the finals of the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in May next year in Tanzania.
