Muslims celebrate Eid Aduha

Mosques across the country were on Tuesday morning filled with worshipers for prayers.

KAMPALA - Muslims in different parts of the country have converged at their respective mosques to celebrate Eid Aduha.
Eid Aduha is an important day in the Islamic faith and a public holiday in Uganda.
The day is celebrated when muslims slaughter animals in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail.
According to a statement issued by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), the national Eid prayers are being held at the National Mosque in Old Kampala.
The prayers are being led by the Mufti of Uganda Sheik. Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje.

Hundreds of Muslims turned up for Eid prayers at Abubakar Jamier Mosque in western Uganda.
Mbarara district chairman Capt. JB Bamuturaki Tumusiime encouraged muslims to educate their children and engage in income-generating activities. He also commended them for remaining united and supporting government programmes.
