UMEME joins cancer run

UMEME Limited have pledged to participate in this year's Rotary cancer run with a contribution of sh5m.

They join Centenary Bank who are the major sponsors with a contribution of sh155m, Davis and Shirtliff sh10m, Platinum Credit sh8m and Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) sh5m, Pepsi/Nivana sh37m, Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UBOS) sh5m and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ush5m.

The money being raised from the run will be spent on two Linear Accelerators, one of the most modern cancer treatment machines in the world and to construct a bunker at Nsambya Hospital. The total cost for the two machines and a bunker that can house them is estimated at sh18b.

The Rotary Cancer Run started in 2012 and raised money that was used to build a cancer centre at Nsambya Hospital. In 2015, the Rotary Cancer Run raised money that was partly used to build the country's second Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital.

Tickets to participate in the run are being sold at sh25000 only at Game Stores Lugogo, all Capital Shoppers outlets, Centenary Bank branches at Lubaga, Ntinda, Wakiso, Bulange Mengo and Rotary Office 9th Floor NIC Building and all Centenary branches across the country.
