Tunisia remained the top African team despite dropping three spots to 24th in the world.

Uganda has maintained its 82nd position in the world, according to the latest rankings released by world football governing body FIFA.

World Cup champion France is number one for the first time in 16 years. France beat Croatia 4-2 last month for its second World Cup title, and jumped six places to reclaim the top spot it last held in May 2002.

Belgium, which lost to France in the semifinals, moved up one place to second on the list, published Thursday.

Tunisia remained the top African team despite dropping three spots to 24th in the world. Uganda did not move up the ladder due to the fact that the team did not play any competitive game for a month.

Other CECAFA members are ranked as follows; Kenya (112), Rwanda (136), Ethiopia (151), Burundi (148), Tanzania (140), Sudan (128), South Sudan (156), Djibouti (197). Eritrea and Somalia are joint 206.
