Uganda lost 1-0 to Ethiopia in its opening game in the CAF U17 regional qualifiers in Tanzania.                   

Mintesnot Wakjira scored for Ethiopia after 13 minutes of play. Uganda have a chance to bounce back when they face South Sudan in their second game on Friday.

Uganda had themselves to blame after missing a lot of scoring opportunities plus failing to convert from the penalty spot in the first half.

Uganda is among the countries who players were disqualified for being over age. Others are Burundi (Abdoul Intwari), Kenya (Maxwell Mullili, Lesley Otieno Owino and Abdulmalik Hussein Abdalla), South Sudan (Simon Pitia Alberto), Sudan (Gamel K. Abdou Kamal) and hosts Tanzania (Jafary Mtoo and Lenox Fred Chande).
