Bukoto Rotary club gets new president

Moses Kafeero, also the general manager of Uganda Health Marketing Group, has been installed as the new President of  Bukoto Rotary  club.

He has launched a  five-year strategic plan for the club that focuses mainly on development.  

He has promised to build the organisation's internal capacity, aggressively reach out for new quality members, strive to complete ongoing projects and continue to support a programme to lift Kabutemba village in Gomba out of poverty. Kafeero was installed recently at a colorful ceremony at the city suburb of Kyanja. He replaces Ms Claudia Arwako.

Kafeero said his leadership would continue with the ongoing projects including the interventions to uplift Kabutemba. The community of 500 households with about l0 people per household, is poor and mainly survive on subsistence agriculture. 

The Rotary Club of Bukoto is making multiple interventions and last year they constructed a 30,000 litre tank at Kabutemba Primary school, built teachers houses, a solar system among others.

Kafeero congratulated Claudia Arwako for maintaining a strong leadership foundation on which a Club was built.

He reminded members of the voluntary services they must offer and sighted quotations of Civil Rights Activists, Martin Ruther King Jr, who said: " Life's most persistent question is , what are you doing for others?"

And mother Theresa: "If you can't feed a hundred people, feed just one".

Kafeero added: Rotary, rather than any other organisation, gives members an opportunity to live up to the ideals of people. 

During his term,  Kafeero promised to start fellowship and other club meetings early, paying Rotary International, district  and Club dues in time, adopting a participatory leadership approach and readiness to learn and interact with other Rotary Clubs, NGOs, Corporates and Government.

Fabian Kasi, the MD Centenary Bank, was the chief guest represented by Charles Kabanda. He urged Rotarians to unite and work for the development of the country. 

Outgoing president Arwako thanked members for supporting Jjajja Nantale Orphanage Home where they are paying school fees for five primary school pupils and donated  wheel chairs to polio victims including  Christine Achao of Kaberamaido.

Every first Saturday of the month, the Club conducts an immunisation project at Mulimira zone in Bukoto.
