Kisamba Mugerwa ends term as planning authority boss

Mugerwa, who joined NPA in 2008, was the brains behind the formulation of the Uganda Vision 2040 and the two National Development Plans.

The National Planning Authority (NPA) on Friday bid farewell to its chairperson, Dr Kisamba Mugerwa after his 10 years of service.

Mugerwa, who joined NPA in 2008, was the brains behind the formulation of the Uganda Vision 2040 and the two National Development Plans.

Under his leadership, NPA has evolved from a small unit of 8 technical staff in 2004 to a professional Government Think Tank boasting of 62 technical staff. 

Dr. Kisamba has previously served in different roles as a politician, researcher and minister. He served as Member of Parliament from 1980 to 2004 and later as Cabinet Minister.

Kisamba holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Makerere University, wields vast practical experience in development planning and has served in positions at several international agencies. 

The Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, said Uganda and Africa world would continue to rely on his enormous experience for development advice.
