Youths eager to learn from The Inter University East African Debate

The Inter University East African Debate Championship is an annual event that is organised by Inter University Council for East Africa.

KAMPALA - The debate, to take place at Kyambogo University's Central Teaching Facility from 9:00am on August 2-8 will feature Nigeria's famous Debater and chief adjudicator David Ejim.

Youths from various universities and other East African regions have expressed great interest to attend and learn from Inter University East African Debate third Championship that starts on Thursday.

The debate, will take place at Kyambogo University's Central Teaching Facility in Kampala will be officiated by the First lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.

It will also feature Dr. Benedict Mtasiwa the chairman Inter-University Council for East African speaking on the theme "Regional Integration, driving innovation and competitiveness for sustainable development."

The Inter University East African Debate Championship is an annual event that is organised by Inter University Council for East Africa with a mission to create awareness, inspire and encourage youths to create their dreams through informative mechanisms like debates.

Majority of the students and the general Public interviewed expressed keen interest about witnessing different students battle for awards through the debate concerning different topics.

The feelings are geared towards learning more debate knowledge and getting inspiration from the key debaters of different institutions that are to take part at the event with an aim of finding solutions for the East African problems at large.

Cynthia Nakena from Pioneer International University Kenya says she has come to meet great minds at the debate and hear solutions towards the problems of East African region at large.

Charles Nama from University of Buea, Cameroon said he has heard much about East African Universities and he is very willing to share innovative ideas with them as well as learning the Ugandan way.

Ojambo Shabib, Kyambogo University says they are the defending champions of the debate and they are very ready to retain the trophy for the second time in the history of East African region.
