The UCU Doves continued their fine start to the season with an impressive 3-1(35-33, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-19) win over Sport-S in the National Volleyball League on Sunday.

Nason Bwesigye's side are in a league of their own and based on current form, they look set to stay unbeaten.

"This match for us was a decider because it would have determined who would top the table. By winning, we stayed on top which was our goal," Doves captain Moses Odeke said.

The match was even, but UCU had better game management in the important areas in the match.

Sport-S too played quite well, but was outfoxed by UCU in the important moments, a quality that has made coach Bwesigye optimistic about his side.

"This year, we really want to take everything serious.Last season, we took a lot of things for granted and we were not focused," Bwesigye said.

Bwesigye thinks his abundant and focused bench is responsible for the team's meteoric rise because almost all players are performing at the top level.

I have a variety of players and all those players are playing at a high level. I can make a change and the ones who come in are able to perform highly. This is something that brings me peace," Bwesigye said.

Apart from his two assured starters Jonathan Tumukunde and Elias Isiagi he deployed many new players and they still performed well.
