Driver shot dead by Policewoman at judge's home

Police is investigating circumstances under which Ismael Mayiga, a driver to a High Court Judge, Musa Sekana, was shot dead by a Policewoman, Daisy Nagasha.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, Nagasha shot Mayiga, who died instantly at about 9:00am at the judge's home in Bukasa-Muyenga, Kampala.

Mayiga and Nagasha worked at the same premises.

However, Owoyesigire did not reveal whether the judge was at home at the time of the shooting.

Nagasha, a Police constable attached to the Very Important Persons Protection Unit (VIPPU), claims to have shot Mayiga accidentally according to Owoyesigire.

Police have visited the scene and recovered the gun.

Mayiga's body has been taken to Mulago Hospital mortuary for a postmortem, pending ongoing investigations.
