Student killed as rival schools fight

RUBANDA - Anselm Niwahereza, a 15 year-old senior two student of Nyaruhanga high school was on killed on Tuesday morning after students of Rubanda high school attacked his school.

Students of Rubanda high school were accusing one of the students from Nyaruhanga for having stolen a bag belonging to one of their schoolmate.

According to reports, Rubanda students made the attack when the students of Nyaruhanga high school were in class; unware of what was about to befall them.

Upon their attack, they beat up Niwahereza, leading to his death.

Niwahereza was rushed to a nearby health centre called Juna amagara hill medical centre but after 30 minutes he passed on as he had  deep cuts on the forehead and on the chest. 

Tai Ramathan, the Rubanda DPC who confirmed the incident says the police have started investigations and have deployed security at both schools to avoid a repeat of the incident. 

" It is unfortunate that we lost a student in this nasty incident. We are however investigating the circumstances that led to the attack," he said.

Gad Ngabirano, the father to Niwahereza  says that  he was called by the school authorities  that his son had died. 

Ngabirano demands that both schools make burial arrangements for his  son.

" I am so bitter that my son died in such a reckless way. All I need now is my son given a decent burrial by both parties involved," he said.
