Navio thrills Indians at launch of "NAMO" song

The Indian community in Uganda is already up and down trying to create the best atmosphere for their PM's visit.

Indian PM visit

KAMPALA - For close to a month, news about the official visit of India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Uganda has been making rounds on the streets of Kampala and various social media platforms.

Huge posters and bill boards showing Modi's visit to Uganda have been erected all over Kampala. The PM will be in the country on July 24.

The Indian community in Uganda is already up and down trying to create the best atmosphere for their PM's visit.

A lot of events have already been kicked off by the Indian community and most notable among them is the launch of the official song about the NAMO visit.

The Indian community, according to the Indian spokesperson, Sanjay Tanna, approached one of Uganda's renowned rappers; Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, aka, Navio.

Navio, together with Indian musician, KK recorded a song titled "NAMO," to mean Narendra Modi.

Launching the song

The event took place at The Acacia Mall in Kamwokya, Kampala. It was kick started by Ugandan cultural dancers who went ahead to entertain guests as the rest of the officials came in.

By 6pm, the Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Shri Ravi Shankar, who was the chief guest had arrived at the venue.

Shankar conducted the first activity of the day as he launched the official picture of Indian PM, Narendra Modi with President Museveni.

Later on, Navio and KK hit the stage for the official launch of the song.

The "NAMO" song highlights both Indians and Ugandans' excitement about  Narendra's visit.
