KAMPALA - National Women football team (Crested Cranes) will be seeking for revenge against Kenya in the CECAFA Women Challenge Cup.

The two sides met in the opening game of the competition, Thursday after Kenya eliminated Uganda 1-0  on aggregate in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers in April.

"The girls are already prepared and I believe we shall pick a good result against Kenya. We are more determined this time round so we need to put up a  good perforamance in the competition," stated Crested Cranes coach Faridah Bulega.

The Challenge Cup will be played in a league format to determine the eventual champion.

The third edition of the CECAFA Women Championship was supposed to be hosted in May this year but the organizers decided to be postponed for better preparations.

Hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia confirmed their participation for the 2018 tourney.

Tanzania remain the defending champions of the event that was last held in Uganda (2016) at FUFA Technical Centre,Njeru.They beat rivals Kenya 2-1 to win the championship while Crested Cranes finished fourth.
