Six men charged over Kidnap, murder

WOMEN MURDERS IN WAKISO

Six men accused of kidnapping and murdering two women were on Friday charged before the Law Development Centre (LDC) court.

The men, including a traditional healer identified as Ali Ddumba Ssalongo and another, Herbert Lukwago, suspected to be dealing in human organs, were not allowed to plead to the charges.

Others are Kamanda Mugabe, John Bosco Olwo, Frank Ssendi and Brian Kaaya.

The suspects appeared before LDC Grade One Magistrate Roseline Nsenga, who did not allow them to plead to the charges, saying they are faced with capital offences only triable by the High Court.

"This court has no powers to try you. Therefore, you are only required to listen to the charges and understand them," Nsenga said.

State attorney Rose Kiprorah informed court that investigations are still ongoing, prompting the Magistrate to remand them until July 11 when they will re-appear in court.

In the first count, prosecution alleges that the accused and others still at large on May 24, 2018 at Musaja -Alumbwa in Makindye Sabagabo, they murdered Rehema Halima Nabwanika.

On the second count, Prosecution further alleges that on May 10, 2018 with intent to murder, they kidnapped Rose Nakisekka from New Taxi Park in Kampala and later murdered her on May 11.

They are also accused of securing sh115m ransom from her father Fred Kasagga, a resident of Villa-Maria in Kalungu district but later killed her.
