KCCA FC fans to elect leaders

KCCA FC fans have embarked on a process that will culminate into elections of the club's fan leaders on August 25 at the StarTimes Stadium.

Addressing a press conference at the stadium on Tuesday, Adam Ssegawa who headed the fans constitution making process, said the elections will involve all fans from the several branches countrywide.

The fans will elect an eleven-man committee comprising of a fans' president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, vice president-finance and two men and women committee members as well as a male and female student committee representatives, serving for a period of one year.

Ssegawa who was in the company of other branch leaders; Gerald Mukiibi, Sunday Manara, Sarah Namaganda, Rachael Namutale and Wilberforce Musisi said all those interested in those positions will pay a non-refundable fee of sh500,000 for the position of fans president.

Apart from the students who will not pay to stand, the rest will pay sh300,000 in order to contest for any of the other positions. He said a campaign to register members who will be required to pay a membership fee of sh20,000 to be able to participate in the elections will start soon.

Nomination forms can be picked at the StarTimes Stadium for those interested in the above positions starting Monday. The president must have attained at least A' Level certification. He said only paid up members will be eligible to elect the 11-man executive and that nominees for the executive positions will be able to canvas for votes countrywide before the elections.

He gave buying the club merchandise at subsidised rates as one of the advantages of being a member on top receiving timely news regarding the team instantly

"This fans committee will work on creating more awareness, mobilizing as well as bringing together all our fans in the country and the money to be collected will help to coordinate activities geared towards getting more fans," Ssegawa said.

Meanwhile the club's spokesperson, Moses Magero, said the club will unveil their new players on July 11 after a media breakfast at the StarTimes Stadium.

He said the club will also carry out a Champions League awareness drive on July 5-6 across the city.
