Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze is still stuck in the country while her relatives scramble to acquire the necessary documentation for her to fly out of the country for treatment.

Nambooze was released on Police bond last week, after which she was transferred from Kiruddu Hospital and then to Bugolobi Medical Center.

She had been detained for 14 days until the Police agreed with doctors from Mulago Hospital that she needed further treatment in India.

The legislator was arrested over remarks she made on Facebook which authorities claim breached the Computer Misuse Act.

Although the Police bond requires her to report back to Police at the end of this month, she has not yet travelled to India.

"We could not acquire the fit to fly permit on time because she was released on a weekend. She could not be allowed on the plane without it" her husband Henry Bakireke told New Vision in a phone interview.

However, Bakireke was optimistic that she would fly to India on Wednesday.

"We are getting the permit in and I am sure on Wednesday she will be traveling" he added.

He revealed that with the help of Parliament, they have secured most of the funds needed to have an operation done.

"I am not sure about the figures but I'm sure most of the money was sent to the hospital in India" he said.
