MBARARA - The chief magistrate court in Mbarara has convicted a school drop out alleged to have defiled a school girl.

Edwin Boyca is said to have lured a 16-year old school girl into sexual acts on Monday evening.

Boyca, an 18 year-old school dropout of Allied school Mbarara in January seduced a school girl who was on her way from school and took her to his room in Mandela, one of the Mbarara town surbub.

Upon reaching home, Boyca asked her if it was okay to take her for clubbing and they decided to go to Nico’s Pub located on high street Mbarara.

There after, they went back to his room in the wee hours of the night where the two spent the night.

Prosecution told court that her parents started tressing for her after failing to return home.

She was later found in the house with her 'boy friend' before she was taken for medical exmanation to ascertain whether she was defiled by the boy with whom she was found and Boyca was arrested.

Prosection led by Anthony Kurugishure told court that upon examination, it was proved that she had had sex that night.

Chief Magistrate Twakyire while reading his judgement noted that according to all the evidence adduced before proved the participation of Boyca in the act of having sex with the girl.

“Prosection proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused participated in the committing the offense.

"The accused also admitted that the victim that fateful night slept at his home and that they had gone clubbing, Prosecution proved that there was a sex act and all the evidence was adduced.

This means the accused person has a case to answer, therefore court finds you guilty and convicts you”

Kurugishure prayed that the fact that defilement is a rampant offense in the country, he asked court to give him a harsh and deterent sentence to serve as an example and send a message to those who would want to commit the same act.

Boyca's case was adjourned to Tuesday next week  when he will be sentenced.
