Onduparaka FC have signed defender Richard Ayiko from Maroons FC on a three-year deal ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The versatile defender was one of the key players for Maroons last season.

"Richard is a good ball-playing defender he reads the game but he is more of a central defender.

"He grew up playing in a back three and has the ability to play in different positions in defence thus giving us more back up options most especially at left back where Rashid Okocha was the main man last season for the caterpillars," club spokesperson Adam Otelul said.

Ayiko, who once turned out for KCCA, joins Amis Muwonge who was signed from newly promoted Masindi Doves.

Maroons captain Toha Rashid and assistant manager Simeon Masaba have signed new contracts.

Ayiko is in line to make his debut for the Caterpillars this Saturday in Arua, when they face KCCA in the return leg of the charity match organised by Palliative Care Association of Uganda.

Onduparaka won the first leg 3-1.
