Aziz Damani Masaka SS' crowning moment in the topflight could not come any better than winning the Mehta Premier League.

Saturday was a day of firsts particularly for Masaka SS who became the first side from the ever growing Damani family to clinch a T20 title after defeating Olila High School in the final by 4 wickets at lugogo oval.

Conversely it was their first final having qualified from the second tier last yearand like many had predicated their qualification has disrupted the establishment.

Having prepared so well in the pre-season, it was just a matter of time for them to blossom; the trophy was no doubt a reward for their unmatched preparations.

Gertrude Chandiru, Mary Nalule, Saidat Kemigisha, Consy Aweko were some of the big names brought to bolster their ranks. Kenyan national star Margret Ngoche also joined the set up.

With the money at their disposal, they would become the best conditioned side in this year's campaign.

Olila who won last year's edition were moderately aggressive in their innings and Esther Iloku scored the highest runs in the game (34 from 32 balls) en route to 102 after their 20 allotted overs.

Conversely Iloku's return was undermined by Damani's great sense of teamwork as Saidat Kemigisha and Margret Banja opened on 23 and 24 respectively.  Immaculate Nakisuyi stepped up with 30 runs from 19 balls. She had earlier claimed 3 wickets.

"It was such an interesting final, the girls stuck to a winning script and here we are: champions" said Yu8suf Nanga, head coach of Aziz Damani Masaka SS.

For Olila reaching the final back to back is no doubt of great consistence having won the ptrevious edition.
